What is a Cat Café?
Taiwan opened the first Cat Café in 1998, and the concept has been popularized in Japan. Although this business model is a novel one here in the US, it's taking off! At Catnip & Coffee, you can enjoy a fresh cup of locally roasted coffee, while hanging out with local, adoptable cats. No pressure to adopt.
Is Catnip & Coffee Family Friendly?
YES! Although, you must be 18 or older to sign our waiver and secure a reservation, children under 12 must be under constant adult-supervision.
Can I bring my own cat?
Just remember "We Provide The Kittens, You Provide The Sittings"! So, please leave your beautiful feline at home, and simply enjoy the adoptable cats we provide.
What is the catch?
There is none! You can spend quality time with the local adoptable cats, which helps socialize them. $15 gets you Cat Lounge admission for an hour, and a select beverage. If you don't want to enter the cat lounge, and are just here for the coffee, that is okay too!
Can you help me rehome my cat?
We work with Berkeley Animal Center, taking in their adoptable cats that have been fully vetted and ready for a new home. We are unable to take in owned or found cats. Please contact Berkeley Animal Center for strays and rehoming personal cats.
